Breadloaf Wilderness is the largest in the state containing around 25,000 acres and numerous mountains in the Presidential Range over 3,500 feet (@ 915 meters) and was established in 1984.

Deep in the Vermont wilderness of the Breadloaf lays a trail that wanders through an ancient boulder strewn canyon left from the days of the glaciers.

Rushing river, ancient rock, towering trees and whispering mountains. Song of bird, track of beast, shadow of fish and trail of sun. Green moss and fern drop of dew, hue of flower, sands of time. Ancient land worn through ages graced with waters of life stretch far and wide over rolling mountain after mountain like slumbering giants. Vermont and the Breadloaf Wilderness await you!

Won’t you join us through Element Mountain for a camp wander through the Breadloaf Wilderness area of the Vermont Green Mountains? Leaving the modern world behind, except the gear you carry upon your back and enter the raw wilderness to tap deeply into your soul, reconnect with the life-force that beats within all the world and discover things many people will never see.

From birch and maples, ash and aspen below to pine, spruce and fir above, the tree variety of the northern forest is truly captivating. Moose and Mountain Lion, Deer and Bobcat, Coyote, Mink, Fisher Cat, Porcupine, Squirrel, Voles, Red Fox, Wolf, Black Bear, Barred Owl and Sharp-Shinned Hawks, Brook Trout and Wood Frogs are among the few of the many critters that call the wilderness home.

We will begin at the trailhead and hike in along the easy to moderate trail entering the wilderness area to the place of camp. White Wolf will guide you and share wisdom of the land throughout this wilderness campout.

Some of the focuses for the camp will be:

  • forest discoveries
  • native philosophies
  • some in camp and survival skills
  • short cross-country hikes from the camp area
  • forest energy tapping
  • a bit of tracking
  • river fun
  • really the main purpose of this camp is to help get you all out at the start of autumn into the wilderness and immerse, explore, let go, relax, have some fun, learn a few new skills and brush up on old ones

Element Mountain will not be supplying food for this trip unless previously requested. If we do supply your food through personal request there will be a non-refundable deposit required upon registration. You will be responsible for your own food and gear and upon registration you will be emailed an equipment list and directions to the meet location.

The trail is of good quality with solid footing and easy following. There will be plenty of water for filtering.

This camp will take place rain or shine.
