Stroke Portrait

Here is another kind of profile portrait that I attempted with a new style. The idea was to create a full image using very loose and scattered brush strokes of similar coloring. For contrast and emphasis I used a minimal amount of dark power strokes in the overall light painting.

This is a girl with red hair in sun glasses sitting in a lawn chair with pillows propping her up and holding a flyswatter. Yes this was a real scene that I painted on site 😉

This was done in 1990 I think. Again it was in acrylic, but a metallic and very translucent acrylic paint. It was painted on mat board of around 20×24 inches.
